The first day in Barcelona kicked off our trip on a wonderful note!!
After a nutritious breakfast, the group boarded the bus for a sight seeing tour of the city. Our sight seeing your kicked off with a beautiful uphill drive to an overlook of the entire city. After many pictures we hopped back on the bus and went to a cathedral where we had a walking tour and free time to explore. The end of our bus tour showed us two amazing Gaudi structures along with a final stop at the famous Sagrada Familia unfinished cathedral designed by Gaudi until his unexpected death.

On our return to our hotel after the Barcelona tour, we were granted a few hours of free time to do as we pleased. A few girls and I ventured to Park Guell, another famous Gaudi structure.
At 3:30 the basketball team left for our first basketball game in Spain. We were able to cheer on the Volleyball team during their first successful match. Unfortunately they ended up losing in the fifth match, but it was a close fight. Our team was very excited to play new competition, but it was very difficult to be prepared after such a long day of travel. The opposing team was from a boarding school in Barcelona for athletes to train to become professional athletes. We ended up losing the game, but we continually improved. After the game we exchanged gifts and took a picture with the other team.
