Crafternoons: Letters to My Love

As I prepare to cross the pond and have the experience of a lifetime, I have been making sure to not forget those who are very close to my heart. Since being in college I have had a long distance relationship between Texas and Minnesota with my high school sweetheart. I couldn't have imaged that the distance could get any further until being accepted in to this amazing study abroad opportunity. I would be lying to say that long distance relationships are perfect, but like any other relationship, you grow stronger together. We have made it work!! This semester we will not only be the furthest apart, but it will also be the longest time spend apart. We will go a total of 175 days without seeing each other!!! Wowsa!! Only 128 to go!! It will be the greatest reunion yet!!

Communicating long distance will definitely have some challenges this semester with the time difference! To be prepared and make sure that any important dates within our relationship are not forgotten, I have made letters for Colin to open throughout the semester. This was a Pinterest inspiration! There are 14 letters in total and there were instructions included.

Crafternoons: Dr. Suess Painting

Today was an absolutely beautiful day in Minnesota!! My friends and I spent the day outside crafting! I worked on a painting for my apartment next year inspired by my favorite quote and title of my blog, "Why fit in when you were born to stand out," by Dr. Suess.

Crafternoons: Granite Table

After one of our 4 water disasters this year ... haha ... we ended up with an extra piece of granite that would have gone to waste. We finally came up with the idea to remake an outside table we had at the cabin. Memorial Day Weekend in Minnesota was extremely cold, so it was a perfect time to work on our project!

We began by adding more support to the frame:

Next, we painted the additional support the same color as the rest of the frame:

Finally we were able to put attach the granite to the top by using caulking:

DIY: Sweater Infinity Scarf

I can't tell you how many times I have ruined clothes in the dryer!!! My brand new sweater got put into the dryer recently by mistake ... it became distorted and unwearable. Finally I came to the conclusion that I would turn it into a scarf. This could also be done with old T-shirts, sweaters, or tank tops.

Step 1: Sew around the body of the sweater an inch beneath the armpits (or the width you want your scarf if the body is very long)

Step 2: Cut above the sewed line half an inch

Step 3: Fold the cut edge at the sewed line and hem so it doesn't unravel

Ta-Da a new infinity scarf!!

My Paintings

These paintings were completed within two painting classes within high school and one within college. Now that I have learned many tips and tricks from instructors and my fellow classmates, I am looking forward to paint on my own time.
